Thanks for all the kind words regarding Big J's valentines. The good news is he was well enough to pass out his cards and receive his fair share of sweet treats and valentines from his classmates. The bad news is I can't seem to shake this nasty bug and those valentines are probably the only crafty thing I've completed in the past two weeks. I'm hoping I will feel better soon so I can focus on preparing for the DWR Modern Craft event on February 24. If you live in the area please stop by, I'd love to meet you. There will be a hot chocolate bar for the kiddos and a mimosa bar for the big kiddos. You can read more about the event below.
Modern Craft
DWR Tigard Studio
Sunday, February 24, 4-7pm
Calling all craft lovers of the modern persuasion - DWR Tigard is hosting a craft fair that's right up your curvilinear alley. On Sunday, February 24, we'll host a line up of local independent artists who will be featuring their one-of-a-kind creations. The artists, some of whom have gained national recognition, will be on hand to discuss their process and passion for modern crafting. Participants include: Heather
Frazier, Sally Shim, Tess Darrow, Lindsay Holmes, Lena Tsiorba and Tim Kirkpatrick.
The evening will also include a craft purge, to encourage do-it-yourself artists to clean out their craft clutter to benefit local non-profit SCRAP: the School and Community Reuse Program. We will collect craft scraps and unused supplies during the event, so if you have a few of your own, bring them in to make a donation. Guest artists will accept cash, checks and trades only. Refreshments will be served.

I've been working on some new designs, but it always seems to take longer than I expect. And although I love working with fabric I feel quite limited by the prints and fabric I have in my stash. I really want to start screenprinting my designs on to fabric, but until I learn how to do so I'll have to make do with printed designs on paper. Speaking of surface design, I'm really looking forward to reading this book.
Oh, and a BIG thank you to Carrie + Alyson + Suzanne for the "You Make My Day" awards. I really do appreciate the fact that there are people out there who take the time to visit my online journal. Your kind + supportive words really make my day! And although there are so many people who inspire me as a designer, mother and wife, I have to say Appah + Big J + Baby J are on the top of my list!
