J's school's silent auction is coming up in a few weeks and each class is responsible for putting together a basket for the auction. One of the mums in J's class had the children paint little cookies on a ceramic cookie jar and then wrote each child's name next to their cookie. I wish I had a photograph because it turned out really nicely.
The contribution I was responsible for was the cookie recipe book. All of J's classmates submitted their favorite cookie recipe and then I compiled them into a little book. It was really straightforward to make and required a few supplies--Kolo capri album, cardstock, xyron sticker machine [or glue stick], tape adhesive [or glue stick] and a few paper punches.
I chose to coordinate the recipe book with the cookie jar which was off white with a brown/blue/green color scheme. I printed the recipes and table of contents page on to textured paper. I used a scalloped circle paper punch for the photographs and backed them on to chocolate brown cardstock circles using my handy xyron sticker machine. After applying tape adhesive on the back of each recipe I adhered them to each page of the book so the recipe pages wouldn't slip around.
Here's J's page of the recipe book. We chose our favorite glazed lemon cookie recipe [we're forever indebted to Martha for the introduction to these delicious cookies].
This was a fun project and I think it would make a wonderful end-of-the-year gift for a teacher.
