Happy Halloween! Sorry, no photographs of the boys in their costumes today, I'll post some later this week. Here's a photo of Big J in 2004. Baby J will be wearing the same bunny costume tonight.
Right now I'm in the zone, the studio CRAFT zone that is. Is it just me, or does everything always take twice as long to make than anticipated? My sewing machine was having some tension issues, thus giving me major tension, but I think he has decided to play nice for now. [Yes, my sewing machine is a "he", because we all know that women are quite reliable and cooperative at all times. *wink wink*] Anyways, I've been busy crafting goods for studio CRAFT. I am making sure my nightmare of having an empty table at the trunk show doesn't come true. Nothing like a little deadline to get your creative juices flowing. I love every aspect of the creative process--coming up with the idea for a project, selecting the "right" fabric and materials, putting it together and adding a little "shim + sons" tag. I've also been having fun coming up with "names" for my handmade goods. [Melissa knows what a big dork I am. I was giggling the whole time I was telling her about the names for my new handmade goods.]
Meet "pic+pocket", cousin of the original "wall+pocket". The pic+pocket consists of shallow pockets which are perfect for holding photographs. I don't know about you, but in our household it takes quite a long time for a photograph to make its way into a frame and even longer to get hung on the wall in the "perfect" spot. So "pic+pocket" is made for folks like me, who would like a place to post recent photos before they get stuck in a good ol' photo album.
Meet "pin+pocket". This is a pin board with a large pocket at the bottom.
I'll also be selling "push+pins" at studio CRAFT. I've been having fun going through my stash of vintage buttons.
[Sweet Japanese birdy fabric from my sweet husband. Oh, I have to show you all the goodies he picked up for me from his recent trip to Japan.]
And last but not least, the "pencil+cup".
So in addition to a few wall+pockets, pic+pockets. pin+pockets, push+pins and pencil+cups, I'll be selling some cards + gift tags at studio CRAFT this weekend. For those who inquired about wall+pockets, I'll be making more after the trunk show. If you are in the Los Angeles area, you'll be able to find my wall+pockets, as well as other handmade goods at ReForm School beginning mid-November. I'm super excited to be selling my goods at this cool shop. I'll also plan to sell my handmade goods in a little online shop beginning late November [for all those last minute Christmas shoppers]. Ok, back to work!
P.S. I'll be catching up with my emails next week. Thank you for your patience.
