A new year. A fresh start. A clean slate.
I meant to spend some time over the holidays writing down the highlights of 2006 and goals for 2007, but well, I was in that low-stress holiday mode and frankly all I did was eat good food, watch my parents dote on their grandchildren and flip through a few magazines. I haven't touched my sewing machine in over a week, but I have a slew of cut fabric ready to be transformed into little goodies. All in good time.
There is so much to be grateful for in my life, and grateful I am indeed. Despite a few personal challenges in 2006, I am thankful for my family [supportive husband + sweet boys = happy mama], friends and this wonderful art + craft community. I started this online journal over a year ago as a way to get back into journaling. I never expected to have an "audience", nor did I ever imagine that I would become friends with so many of you. And what a treat it has been to meet many of you in real life.
Last year I had a few simple goals which included filing my business papers [check! shim + sons celebrates its first birthday this month!], "sewing more" [check!] and "taking better photographs" [check!]. And what do you know, I actually accomplished these goals and had fun along the way. This online journal was instrumental in motivating me to carve time during my week to craft + sew. I learned to turn off the flash on my camera [to which my photographer husband said, "Amen!"] and use natural light when taking photographs [and what a difference it made!]. I discovered that I inherited my mother's love of photography [although she loves her flash] and enjoyed not only taking pictures of my work but also the little still lifes that surround me in my home.
So, hello 2007! This is going to be a good year. I can just feel it. Along with some personal growth goals, I want to spend more time sketching and working on new designs, open a small online shop, learn the ins-and-outs of photography [I'll be enrolling in Photography 101 and I hear the instructor [Mr. Shim, aka "Appah"] is a tough one], take one family photograph each week and enjoy my life as a wife, mother and designer. Wish me luck. I'm looking forward to continuing my life journey with you all. Thank you for all the support + kind words you have shared with me. I really do appreciate each and every person who stops by to say "hello". Thank you, dear friends. Let's have some fun in 2007!
P.S. I finally wrote something on my "About" page. You can check it out here.
