a little giveaway

I have been wanting to host a little giveaway since I returned from Korea but finally got around to it. I put together a set of packaging supplies--clear red grid tape from Korea, rolls of washi tape from Japan, a mish-mash of SHIM + SONS packaging goodies--tags, labels, twine, and other little goodies not photographed.

These supplies will be perfect for holiday gift packaging. Just leave your name below and I will randomly pick one name the morning of Friday, November 6.

The 2010 calendars are in the shoppe! There are four different designs.

And for those who would like to make their own calendars, I'm offering blank calendars as well. You can add your own photographs, child's drawings or artwork or just keep it as is.

kraft + silver

Birthday season is upon us. We have attended two parties in the last three days with several more around the corner. Life has been a bit busy lately so I didn't have time to make a gift for j's classmate. Instead I let j pick out the gift, which of course meant he picked out something he would really like for himself, a new box of legos.

Instead of wrapping the gift in our standard kraft paper with white twill tape, I let j decorate the "wrapping paper". I cut out a strip of kraft paper, put a piece of poster board underneath [to prevent any pen leaks from marking the table], and handed him one of my silver sharpie pens [my boys LOVE sharpie pens]. He had so much fun and it was a super quick and easy project.

We wrapped the box with our handmade wrapping paper, tied some silver twine and a handmade gift tag [rubber stamp with silver ink] around the package, and we were all set for the party.

I started designing the 2010 calendars over the summer. I must have sketched over two dozen designs, but I kept going back to the first few sketches which of course were the most simple and well, the most "me".

I had a difficult time narrowing it down to one design, so I decided to offer three designs this year. 

Each calendar will come tucked inside a handmade black + white gingham drawstring bag.

sweet treats

I made Smitten Kitchen's chocolate caramel crackers several months ago while we were still living in Korea. They were a big hit with the boys and I was thinking I would make another batch to give to the boys' classmates for Halloween. I loved the sweet + salty combination. They are super easy to make which is a big plus for me right now since I don't have access to any of my baking equipment. Speaking of sweet treats, I am quite tempted to order some Whimsy & Spice goodies, everything looks so yummy! Oh, and I have to try making these pumpkin + hazelnut doughnuts sometime soon.

This week I was planning to do a bunch of fun stuff like updating the shoppe with my new 2010 calendars + holiday stationery [everything has been photographed, I just need to go through them all], but I got a bit sidetracked with a sick boy at home. Things are starting to look up though--my boy is feeling better, Appah just returned from a long business trip and tomorrow is Friday! I'll be back next week, hopefully back on track. Have a wonderful weekend!!
